PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing device and a sealing method capable of preventing a shading glass plate and a substrate from sticking to each other to easily separate the substrate from the shading glass plate when a sealing process is executed by using the shading glass plate; and to provide an organic EL device and an electronic apparatus. SOLUTION: In this sealing device, the shading glass plate is disposed on the back side of the substrate with an electrooptical layer formed thereon; and light is radiated from the shading glass plate side in the state where a sealing member for airtightly covering the substrate and the electrooptical layer is brought into press contact to the shading glass plate to joint the substrate to the sealing member by a photo-curing adhesive. A water repellent treatment is applied to a contact surface to the substrate of the shading glass plate in order to prevent the shading glass plate and the substrate from sticking to each other.
