Disclosed is a dispersible colorant wherein a colorant (1) and chargeable resin pseudo fine particles (2-1, 2-2, 2-3) which are smaller than the colorant are fixed or fused together. Such a dispersible colorant is characterized in that the colorant itself has a surface charge. Consequently, the colorant surface can be processed by making use of both the characteristics of the resin adhered thereto and the characteristics of the colorant surface. There can be therefore obtained a dispersible colorant having sufficiently high dispersion stability using a substantially water-insoluble colorant. Also disclosed is a simple method for producing such a dispersible colorant.
