The method involves detecting a desired reduction size of a vehicle weight in a vehicle weight measuring unit (20) for measuring the vehicle weight, which is transferred from tires of the vehicle. A load data, which are produced from load sensors (10), is extracted, if the size is detected. Calibration information is produced based on the extracted data and the reference load data for assisting the calibration. An independent claim is also included for a calibration assistance system for assisting the calibration of a vehicle weight.
