PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method, an image processing apparatus, an image forming apparatus, a computer program and a dummy halftone matrix creating method in which appropriate gradation reproduction processing is applied without giving a sense of incompatibility such as granularity in human sight characteristics. SOLUTION: Image data inputted via an image input device 1 are inputted to a gradation reproduction processing section 18 after performing thereon various kinds of processing such as A/D conversion, shading correction, input gradation correction, color correction, black generation, and spatial filtering processing. In the gradation reproduction processing section 18, gradation reproduction processing is carried out to represent a dummy halftone having no sense of incompatibility for human eyes with bit arrangement based on human sight characteristics (contrast sensitivity function).
