The device has a spindle (2) with forward directed face (3) and bore (4). The tool holder is locked with the spindle (2) through inner and outer locking elements (7,8) designed as a bayonet lock whereby a protruding element is mounted in the bore of the spindle and the groove is arranged in the circumferential face of the shaft of the tool socket. The groove runs axially from an end face and then radially into a circumferential face. The fixing element (14) is formed by a clamping ring (15) with an inclined run-up surface (16) acting on the protruding element (9).
