<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell and a method of controlling thereof which can improve its startability by enhancing discharging performance for remaining moisture as well as for condensed water with an attempt to realize a weight reduction and miniaturization of the overall system. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel cell 1 is scavenged by providing a scavenging gas in a reactant gas passage by which a reactant gas is supplied into the fuel cell. When judging that scavenging is needed, a scavenging gas is flowed at a larger flow rate than that of a reactant gas that is being flowed in a reactant gas passage when the fuel cell is in normal generation, and then the scavenging gas is flowed at a smaller flow rate than the above that of the reactant gas. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
