<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-base pigment ink composition that can give a picture excellent in recording quality irrespective of the sort of recording media. <P>SOLUTION: The water-base pigment ink composition comprises a pigment, a water-dispersable polymer, water and a water-soluble organic solvent, wherein the pigment is dispersed as a primary particle whose mean primary particle diameter is not more than 50 nm and a ratio of a mean secondary particle diameter/a mean primary particle diameter is at least 1 and not more than 10 and the lowest glass transition temperature of the water-dispersable polymer is less than 100°C. Use of the polymer can realize a high color density for a non-glossy medium such as plain paper and high glossiness for a glossy medium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
