<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abnormality determination method for a particulate filter capable of accurately determining even minor abnormality such as one that minute PM passes through the filter. <P>SOLUTION: In this abnormality determination method, loci of changes of flow-in exhaust gas temperature and flow-out exhaust gas temperature of the particulate filter in a deceleration operation zone is detected, a degree of drop of flow-out exhaust gas temperature in relation to flow-in exhaust gas temperature is calculated based on the change loci, and abnormality of the particulate filter is determined when the degree of drop exceeds a threshold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
