PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an opening and closing device capable of reducing loosening of an opening and closing body when abutting on an object and stopping by a simple structure. SOLUTION: In this opening and closing device provided with the opening and closing body 10 for sliding an end part in the direction of closing to open and close, a driving source 33 for closing the opening and closing body 10, an energizing means 34 for pulling the opening and closing body 10 from its opening direction side, and a braking means for applying braking force to the opening and closing body 10 during operation, the driving source 33 operates freely when the opening and closing body 10 during closing operation is abutted on an object on its closing direction side, and the opening and closing body 10 is inverted by energizing force of the energizing means 34 to apply braking force to the opening and closing body 10 during inversion operation by the braking means.
