PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting occurrence of abnormality in a drafting apparatus at the time of spinning by a simple constitution without storing accurate standard values. SOLUTION: The drafting apparatus 11 drives a front bottom roller 12, a middle bottom roller 13, a back bottom roller 14 by using two driving motors 16a and 16b for front rollers, driving motors 17a and 17b for middle rollers and driving motors 18a and 18b for back rollers. Each driving motor is subjected through inverters 19a and 19b, etc., to speed change control. A current sensor SA is provided in each inverter 19a, 19b, etc. The current sensor SA detects the amount of the current fed in accordance with load torque of each driving motor 16a, 16b, etc. A CPU31 determines to be abnormal when the variation of load torque of two motors for driving each back roller is each deviated from a set range.
