<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which excess carrier or developer replenishment is prevented by replacing a carrier or developer on the basis of information on the deteriorated state of the developer, accordingly a charge amount of a toner is made stable and proper and an image having good graininess and no surface stain over a prolonged period of time can be obtained without causing toner scattering. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus having a developing case 53 for converting an electrostatic latent image on an image bearing member 4 to a toner image with a developing sleeve 54 which holds a magnet roller fixed therein and rotates, and a device for replenishing a carrier or developer to the developing case 53, a toner scattering detection sensor 71 is disposed near the developing device and the carrier or developer is properly replenished on the basis of a signal from the toner scattering detection sensor 71. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
