ARTIFICIAL CHROMOSOME, USE OF THE CHROMOSOME AND METHOD FOR PREPARING ARTIFICIAL CHROMOSOME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mammal artificial chromosome and a method for introducing a foreign DNA into such a chromosome, and to provide a method for isolating and purifying the chromosome.

SOLUTION: The preparation method of the artificial chromosome comprises a step for introducing one or more DNA fragments containing selectable marker into cells, a step for proliferating cells under a selecting condition of producing the cells taking in one or more DNA fragments in the genome DNA, and a step for selecting cells containing a satellite artificial chromosome, wherein the satellite artificial chromosome contains more heterochromatin than euchromatin. The satellite artificial chromosome is obtained by the method. And transgenic nonhuman animals and plants containing the satellite artificial chromosome are also provided.
