<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To supply just enough fuel of required quantity to a fuel injection valve over all revolution speed range of an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: In a fuel supply device 11 having a low pressure pump 15 and a high pressure pump 16 provided in series in a fuel flow passage 14 connecting a fuel tank 12 and a fuel injection valve 13, a first bypass flow passage 17 bypassing the low pressure pump 15 and connected to the fuel flow passage 14 in parallel and a second bypass flow passage 18 bypassing the high pressure pump 16 and connected to the fuel flow passage 14 in parallel are provided. At a time of start of an engine 10, fuel in the fuel tank 12 is supplied to the fuel injection valve 13 via the first bypass flow passage 17 and the high pressure pump 16 and is supplied to the fuel injection valve 13 via the low pressure pump 15 and the second bypass flow passage 18.
