PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field emission display (FED) and a manufacturing method thereof in which a mesh grid is fixed to a cathode plate at low temperatures. SOLUTION: The FED comprises: an anode plate 200 having an anode electrode 220 and a fluorescent layer 230 formed on a first surface; the cathode plate 100 having an electron emission source 140 and a gate electrode 150 formed on a surface facing the first surface of the anode plate 200, wherein the electron emission source 140 emits electrons toward the fluorescent layer 230 and the gate electrode 150 has a gate hole 150a through which the electrons pass; the mesh grid 400 brought into intimate contact with the surface of the cathode plate 100 facing the anode plate 200, the mesh grid 400 having an electron beam control hole 420 corresponding to the gate hole 150a and having a photosensitive adhesion layer 460 formed on a surface facing the cathode plate 100; and a spacer 300 provided between the anode plate 200 and the mesh grid 400 and adapted to bring the mesh grid 400 into intimate contact with the cathode plate 100 by a negative pressure between the anode plate 200 and the cathode plate 100.
