PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environment-friendly saving box mainly formed of natural pulp and recycled resin material, which is lightweight and has excellent touch, which can be broken into pieces having faces free from a sharp edge when it is intentionally broken after the saving box is filled with money, which is excellent in safety and which can be disposed of as paper waste after being broken into the pieces. SOLUTION: The saving box is formed by injection molding a compound material made by heating and kneading paper and thermoplastic resin. The saving box is preferably formed of paper obtained from odds and trimmings produced at the time of manufacturing a postcard or a spoiled postal card, or paper obtained from odds and trimmings produced at the time of manufacturing a postcard mainly formed of laminated paper having a polyethylene resin layer on one side or both sides of the paper and a spoiled postcard. Preferably, the mass ratio of the paper and the thermoplastic resin is in a range of 75:25 to 25:75, and the compound material has a breaking extension specified by ASTMD 638 of 300% or lower and an Izod impact value specified by ASTMD 256 of 10 Kgf cm/cm or lower.
