PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing oxaloacetic acid or oxaloacetic derivatives with by-products, for example, acetic acid reduced through a fermentation production process using a gram-positive bacterium. SOLUTION: Oxaloacetic acid or oxaloacetic derivatives are produced by using a modified gram-positive bacterium or its treated microorganism that has the producing ability of oxaloacetic acid or oxaloacetic derivatives and their activity(ties) of one or both of acetate kinase and phosphotransacetylase are modified so that they may be decreased more than that of the unmodified strain.
