In a sheet material composed of textile filaments, individual filaments are entangled with other filaments in all dimensions of the sheet material to provide a material free from opening and having a tensile strength in all directtions of 0.5 to 15.5 lb./in./oz./yd2 in the absence of adhesives and fusion of the filaments. The sheet material may be in the form of a non-woven fabric in which the entangled filaments are substantially uniformly distributed throughout or in which the entangled filaments produce linear seams either parallel or extending in two directions. Such seams may be continuous or dis-continuous, and may be cut out and used to form chenille-type yarn. Further such seams can be used to unite one or more batts of loose staple fibres or continuous filaments to a crossed-warp of yarns which may be elastic yarns. The sheet material can be formed of a woven fabric united to a non-woven fibrous sheet by the interentangled filaments or alternatively it may be a woven or knitted structure having individual filaments of its component yarns interentangled with filaments of other yarns throughout the material to provide a fulled or napped appearance and increased covering power.
