PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle controller where the security and protection of a program are remarkably improved, the time required for the recovery from a fault is minimized without performing a security operation which is not required when the program is initially written, an interrupt processing can be used for data transfer in an on-board rewriting operation, a high speed and highly reliable protocol can easily be adopted and a vehicle on-board rewriting system can inexpensively be constituted. SOLUTION: The transfer program (15) of an on-board program rewriting machine (10) is transferred to a RAM (7) in an MCU (2), and a flash ROM (4) is rewritten by the operation of the transfer program. The matching of a code (17a) given from the outside and a code (4a) existing already on a ROM is checked before the transfer program on the RAM (7) is started. When they are not matching, a rewrite control means (6) stopping a rewrite operation is constituted in the MCU (2). |
