PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass forming apparatus capable of performing precise glass forming by accurately controlling pressing force by a mold. SOLUTION: In the glass forming apparatus, a load detector 8d is attached between a fixed shaft 2a and an upper mold 4 and disposed in a forming chamber 17. Thereby the load detector 8d is not influenced by pressure reduction in the forming chamber 17. Between the load detector 8d and the upper mold 4, a cooling member 31 is disposed, and further, the forming chamber 17 is partitioned into a part surrounded by transparent quartz tubes 16 and housing the upper mold 4 and a lower mold 11, and a part surrounded by a cooling chamber 52 and housing the load detector 8d, by the cooling member 31, a flange 32 and a separating plate 54, thus suppressing the temperature rise of the load detector 8d. Also cooling piping 34 and gas piping 41 are bent in their mid-stream in a loop-like form so as not to influence the load measurement by the load detector 8d. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
