PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus in which an image deficiency is not generated when changing images and when turning power on, whatever image information may be acquired. SOLUTION: A display image information generating means M19 generates display image information for displaying an image for each image category on an image display region on the basis of the acquired image information. An image holding control means M13 holds the display image information for each image category in a display image information holding means M11. Even if acquired image selection information is for selecting a certain image, the display image information is generated for the other images and held for each image category. Moreover, even if the image which is not selected on the image selection information corresponds to partial image information, the display image information is generated and held for each image category.
