PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical device which consumes a relatively small amount of electricity and uses a battery efficiently. SOLUTION: A pressure fluctuation inside a cannula 3 due to breath of a patient is detected by a pressure sensor 5 via an electromagnetic valve 2. A CPU 8 blocks electric power supply to the pressure sensor 5 and an LED 16 and supplies driving power to the electromagnetic valve 2 when sensing the breath of the patient upon receiving signals from the pressure sensor 5. The CPU 8 supplies retained power smaller than the driving power and resumes electric power supply to the pressure sensor 5 and the LED 16 after supplying the driving power to the electromagnetic valve 2. Since the relatively large driving power to the electromagnetic valve 2 and the power supplied to the pressure sensor 5 and the LED 16 are not overlapped, a substantial voltage drop of the battery is prevented.
