A personal digital assistant having a double spindle hinge capable of openably and rotatably unfolding two casings foldably and rotatably joined to each other and holding the attitude of the unfolded casings. The personal digital assistant comprises the first casing, the second casing, and the double spindle hinge connecting the first and second casings to each other so as to be opened and closed and rotated relative to each other. The double spindle hinge further comprises an open/close shaft part installed in the first casing, a housing held on the open/close shaft part in the state of rotatable about an axis in the axial direction of the open/close shaft part, and a rotating shaft part connecting the housing to the second casing rotatably relative to each other about an axis in the vertical direction to the axial direction of the open/close shaft part. The rotating shaft part further comprises a first engagement part at the side end part of the housing, the open/close shaft part comprises a second engagement part engageable with the first engagement part, and the first engagement part and the second engagement part (A) are disengaged from each other when the first casing and the second casing are opened to a specified angle so that the first casing and the second casing can be rotated relative to each other and (B) are engaged with each other when the open/close angle of the first casing and the second casing is not the specified angle so that the first casing and the second casing cannot be rotated relative to each other. Also, the first engagement part and the second engagement part are formed so that, in the state of (A) above, the combination of the cross section of the first engagement part with the cross section of the second engagement part can form a roughly circular shape. |
