A mobile device (e.g. mobile telephone, PDA) 1 communicates over a short range with an update card 15. The update card 15 contains data that can be used by the device 1, and a visual identifier. The short range communication can be wireless, (e.g. Bluetooth (RTM), Infra Red, RFID chip), optical (barcode, grid of indicia, password) or a physical connection including punched holes. The main embodiment describes a football game, where the update cards available represent different players. A picture of the player is printed on the card for identification. The update cards contain statistics of the visually represented player which are then transferred to the mobile telephone for use in the football game. Another embodiment describes the uploading of wallpapers, ringtones or games to the mobile device. |
