A device for securing a lace 2 in a predetermined position relative to an opening 10, 11 in an article of footwear comprising a flexible resilient planar material 12 having an opening 15, or slit 13, 14, through which the lace 2 is able to pass, the opening or slit being dimensioned relative to the cross-sectional dimension of the lace 2 that the said material grips the lace 2. The material 12 may be an aramide-based fabric or a polymer impregnated with glass or carbon fibres. |
