<p>The low pressure compressor (10) for gaseous and fluid media has a drive unit consisting of a motor (12) and a transmission (13) upon the drive shaft (14) of which at least one drive arm (15) is fastened and torsionally fixed on one end, while by the other end is rotatably connected to the connecting rod (16) which in turn is rotatably fastened by its other end to a linear slide (18) so that the rotational movement of the drive shaft is converted by a linear unit (17,18) into a linear movement and the cylinder (19) of a piston and cylinder unit can remain rigidly connected to the base frame (11).</p>
