To separate foreign bodies from a flow of tobacco, it passes through an initial lock (18) where foreign matter is spun out. A part-flow of the cleaned tobacco is passed to a second lock (28) to spin out foreign matter giving a second cleaned tobacco flow. The tobacco stream, containing foreign bodies, is held in an intermediate storage shaft (25) to be taken off evenly and the separated matter is gathered in a container (24). The foreign bodies in the tobacco are registered by detectors (15,26).
|
