An image forming apparatus including an image bearing member, a charging device configured to charge the image bearing member, an irradiating device configured to irradiate the image bearing member to form a latent electrostatic image thereon, a developing device configured to develop the latent electrostatic image on the image bearing member with a toner, cleaning device configured to remove residual toner remaining on the image bearing member, a transfer device configured to transfer the toner image to a recording material and a fixing device configured to fix the toner image on the recording material The fixing device includes an endless belt (B) having an elastic layer on the surface thereof, a plurality of rotation bodies (R1,R3) located inside the endless belt, at least one of which is a heating roller (R3), and a pressing rotation body (R2) located outside the endless belt and configured to form a nip portion with the endless belt while sandwiching the endless belt with one of the plurality of the rotation bodies which is placed opposite to the pressing rotation body to fix the toner image on the recording material upon application of heat. Further, the nipping time is from 35 to 70 ms, at least one of the pressing rotation body and the rotation body located opposite thereto has an elastic layer having a rubber hardness of from 20 to 40 Hs, and the toner has a weight average particle diameter of from 2 to 5 µm. |
