A reciprocating drive apparatus that may be used in a reciprocating saw, comprises; a housing (figure 1, 12); a drive shaft 42 rotatably mounted in said housing (figure 1, 12); an elongated spindle 80 mounted in said housing (figure 1, 12) for reciprocating motion. The spindle 80 has a receiver 92 at a first end, which engages a wobble plate interface structure 40. The wobble plate assembly 40 is mounted on the shaft 42 and has an elongated arm 60 with a wobble plate interface structure 40 for engaging the spindle receiver (figure 1, 30). The interface structure comprises first and second ball type interfaces 68, 72, which are concentrically aligned with one another. The first interface 68 therefore causes reciprocating motion of said spindle 80, and the second interface 72 preventing rotation of the spindle 80. |
