The invention relates to a compound of formula (1] wherein A is a carbon- carbon double bond having the E or Z stereochemical configuration, or A is a carbon-carbon triple bond, Et is ethyl, and R is hydroxy and R1 is hydrogen or =CH2, or R is hydrogen or fluoro and R1 is =CH2. They stimulate HL-60 cell differentiation and accordingly, a re useful as agents for the treatment of neoplastic diseases, such as leukemia.
