1. A method of diagnosing Alzheimer's disease (AD) in a patient, characterised in that: (1) a sample of an appropriate body fluid of that patient is taken; (2) the presence of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) is detected in vitro in this sample; this acetylcholinesterase shows relatively smaller affinity to Concanavalin A (ConA) and relatively greater affinity to wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) than acetylcholinesterase originating from a person not suffering from Alzheimer's disease. 2. The method according to claim no. 1, characterised in that: (1) the bond with Concanavalin A (ConA) and wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) is measured applying a lectin bond analysis; (2) the proportion of acetylcholinesterase not bound with Concanavalin A (ConA) to acetylcholinesterase not bound with wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) is calculated, where (3) this proportion exceeds 0.95 at patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). 3. The method according to claim no. 1 or 2, characterised in that, additionally, the total activity of acetylcholinesterase is determined. |
