The decelerator (1) has a spherical canopy (5) projecting with respect to an extension plane (E) intended to be established at the level of the pavement of a road junction. The spherical canopy presents a circular contour with predetermined height. A footing is enchased in the junction and has a height ranging between the extension plane and a lower side having predetermined dimensions. An independent claim is also included for a process for decelerating vehicles at the level of the road junction of a traffic lane.
