The door has a wedge (4) to partially cover a frontal impact zone (14) of the door. The wedge is mounted on an inner liner of the door. The wedge constitutes a rigid extension towards an adjacent part at the side of a body shell (2), i.e. towards the front of a vehicle, so that the zone is advanced towards the shell side to obtain a reduced clearance (J2) between the zone and the shell side.
