A washable diaper (nappy) for babies comprises internal and external layers of hourglass shape, with front, back and (narrower) intermediate parts, sewn to each other along their periphery, with the exception of an opening on the edge of the back part; several pieces of elastication; mutually attachable gripping tapes or press catches on the back and front parts; and a washable, reusable insert located in the zone between the elastications. A washable diaper (nappy) for babies comprises: (A) internal and external layers (9, 10) of hourglass shape, with front, back and (narrower) intermediate parts, sewn to each other along their periphery, with the exception of an opening (11) on the edge of the back part; (B) elastication (4, 5, 6) fixed to the back part and along the length of two sides of intermediate part, across the internal and external faces on the back of the diaper, between the edge of the fabric (13) and the stitching (14) fixing the two layers together; (C) two gripping tapes (8) fixed across the external layer on the ends of the back part; (D) two gripping tapes (8) fixed across the internal and external layers on the ends of the front part, to be fixed to the gripping tapes (8); and (E) a washable, reusable insert (12) located in the zone between the elastications. Independent claims are included for two variants of the diapers as above, in which the bands C. are replaced by a suitable number of press catches in four rows on the ends of the back (or front) part and the bands D. are replaced by four press catches distributed vertically in two pairs on the ends of the front (or back) part, fixing to the respective catches C.
