A method for transferring operational data (420, 430) from a communications module (101), said operational data (420, 430) being received in the communications module (101) from a first electric device (130) connected to the communications module, during one or more predefined operational states (210-270) controlled by a state machine (200) in the communications module to a second electric device (100) connected to the communications module is disclosed. The method comprises determining which operational state (210-270) the communications module (101) is currently operating in, adding information (410) to the operational data (420, 430), said information indicating the current operational state of the state machine, and transferring a telegram (301), comprising the added information and the operational data, to the second electric device.
