Hepatitis B virus (HBV) particles in a bodily fluid sample containing HBV-RNA but no HBV-DNA; a method of measuring the particles as claimed in claim 1 by measuring HBV-RNA; a method of evaluating the therapeutic effect on HBV infection of a drug having an RNA-dependent DNA polymerase inhibitory effect characterized in that the above measurement is carried out on a bodily fluid of a patient under the corresponding therapy; and a method of presuming the risk of liver caner onset or selecting a risk group of liver cancer onset.
