COMBINED STEEL CORD

The invention relates to manufacturing articles from metal fiber, in particular, steel cord for reinforcing vehicles' tires and technical rubber articles. The inventive task is to work out metal cord structure with increased durability for using in tires. The technical inventive result is characterized in that there is no contact (friction) between metal wires of the central element (core) and outer wires, increasing fretting resistance of the steel cord wires, decreasing ability of the central layer wires to migration and improving resistance to impact loads. The inventive task is solved by providing a combined steel cord for motor vehicles and reinforcing technical rubber articles which comprises the central element wound thereon a layer of 1-3 non-metal threads and an outer layer from steel wires. According to the invention the central element consists of two or three steel wires twisted therebetween, above which one or two layers comprising from one to three non-metal threads with opposite direction of winds between the layers are wound with a pitch different from the pitch of the central element wire winding. The winding pitches of layers from non-metal threads can differ from each other, their direction can coincide, but the winding pitches must differ by, at least, two times. The central element can contain wires from a material providing a cathode protection from corrosion towards brass-plated wire of the outer winding. The non-metal threads can be saturated with a special impregnation or an anti-friction lubricant not making worse adhesion with the rubber mixture after vulcanization. Wires used in the central element and in the outer winding have strength 2000-5000 H/m<2>. For better adhesion with rubber mixture the wire surface is specially coated (copper, bronze, brass, zinc etc.)
