A fastener assembly (48) for attaching components of dissimilar material includes a fastener (134), a spacer (138), and a mechanism (142) for tightening the assembly. The spacer (138) compensates for differences in thermal expansion rates between a non-metal component (38) and a metal component (40) while providing a tight attachment therebetween. An opening (64) formed within the metal component (40) is an elongated slot that accommodates the body portion (148) of the fastener (134) passing therethrough with the spacer (138) and allows relative movement between the non-metal component (35) and the metal component (40).
