Selection or avoidance of desired (a, a') and undesired (b) portions of a recording and/or reproduction system is under user control by means of a command input by the user which indicates the optimum time of a transfer (T1,T2) of given width in the store. The initial transfer (T1) has a definite width, which can be pre-configured or firmly established in the system. The user provides another command after reinserted replay within a definite time-slot for generating a transfer (T2) in the opposite direction. The user does not provide a further command after the reinserted replay within a defined timeslot, and the system produces the initial transfer width again. An independent claim is included for a recording and/or reproduction system with microprocessor control unit.
