<p>Methods for making composite flakes are disclosed. The composite flakes are formed from particles and one or more monomers and/or resins or resin systems. The polymer matrix of the flakes is highly crosslinked and/or high molecular weight. Use of the particles in powder coatings is also disclosed.</p>
