The rotating handle (4) is permanently joined to a first toothed wheel (5) acting on a central wheel (6). A third toothed wheel (7) is attached to the spindle (8) of the spindle brake (2) and can be axially moved but not rotated in relation to the spindle (8). When the handle (4) is moved into a first position the height adjusting mechanism (1) is activated. When the third toothed wheel (7) is pushed manually towards the central wheel (6) the spindle brake (2) and the height adjusting mechanism (1) can be simultaneously operated.
