NOVEL METHYL CARBONATES, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF AND NON-AQUEOUS ELECTROLYTE

A compound represented by R-OC(=O)OCH3 [wherein R represents -CH(CH2F)(CH3) or -CH2CHFCH3]; a method for producing a compound represented by R-OC(=O)OCH3, characterized in that it comprises reacting a compound represented by R-OH with dimethyl carbonate in the presence of a basic catalyst; and an electrolytic solution composed of an electrolyte and a non-aqueous polar solvent, characterized in that the electrolytic solution comprises a compound represented by R-OC(=O)OCH3 ,as a non-aqueous polar solvent, in an amount of 5 mass % or more. The above compound is novel, has a wide potential window and exhibits high ability to dissolve an electrolyte having high polarity, and can be suitably used as an aprotic polar solvent.
