The prop has a cylinder tube casing (11) and a piston rod arrangement. An annular space is formed between the casing and the arrangement, and a sleeve retainer (16) is fastened at a front side of the casing. The retainer has retaining grooves (25, 26) for a sealing and guiding unit for sealing the space and guiding the arrangement. Edges of the grooves are provided with a circulating and post worked bronze coated weld.
