EPOXY RESIN, METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME AND EPOXY RESIN COMPOSITION THEREOF

Disclosed is an epoxy resin represented by the general formula (I) below and having an epoxy group and a phenolic hydroxyl group in a molecule which is synthesized from a bifunctional phenol and an epihalohydrin. Such an epoxy resin exhibits thermosetting properties and has a hydrolyzable halogen content of not more than 0.05 weight%. The chemical and physical characteristics of cured products of conventional epoxy resins are further improved in this epoxy resin. (I) In the formula, n is an integer of 0 or more; A1 and A2 respectively represent a residue of a bifunctional phenol, and A1 and A2 may be the same as or different from each other; and R1 and R2 respectively represent H or AA.
