摘要 A parameter selecting section (109) selects one of the image composition parameters stored in a parameter storage section (110) according to the output of a vehicle state detecting section (108). An image composition section (104) reads a camera image from a frame memory (103) according to the selected image composition parameter and creates a composite image showing the state of the vehicle periphery. A moving object detecting section (105) detects a moving object area where it is deduced that a moving object is present in the created composite image. Thus, since a moving object is detected after a composite image is created from camera images, the computation load is light, and it is easy to detect a moving object existing on the boundary between the areas imaged by cameras. A parameter is selected considering the results of detection by the moving object detecting section (105) and the currently selected image composition parameter in addition to the vehicle state, and thereby more adequate display of a composite image and detection a moving object are possible.
