The two-stroke internal combustion engine (1), especially for hand-held powered tools, has a cylinder casing (2) with its inner wall forming at least one guide section (3) for a reciprocating piston (4). The inner wall, at least in the guide section, is encased in a first light metal (13) and at least in areas is encased by a second light metal (14). The inner wall is encased by the first light metal in the region of the exhaust passage (8) and/or the combustion chamber (6).
