Separator has channel plates (11,12) with respective plate surface facing corresponding membrane electrode assemblies. The channel plates have respective fuel gas channel system (18) and oxidant channel system (19) for supply of fuel gas and oxidant gas to respective electrode assembly. The channel plates are adhesively connected with one another in the area of the plate surfaces facing one another.
