PROCESS FOR PRODUCING AROMATIC CARBONATE

A process for producing an aromatic carbonate, characterized by comprising the following steps (I) and (II): (I) a step in which a starting material selected from the group consisting of dialkyl carbonates, alkyl aryl carbonates, and mixtures of these and a reactant selected from the group consisting of aromatic monohydroxy compounds, alkyl aryl carbonates, and mixtures of these are subjected to a transesterification reaction in the presence of a catalyst to obtain a high-boiling reaction mixture comprising the target aromatic carbonate (a) and an aromatic carbonate ether (b), and a low-boiling reaction mixture containing low-boiling by-products is discharged; and (II) a step in which the aromatic carbonate ether (b) is separated from the high-boiling reaction mixture.
