A metal ring, particularly a hose clip, Fig. 4, is made from a metal strip 1, Fig. 1 (not shown), having at one end a longitudinal slot 2 and at the other end an upstanding lug 4 formed by pressing out a U- shaped incision 6; the strip is bent into a ring and the lug inserted into the slot 2, folded over and then pressed flat at 4a thereby displacing metal 12 at the slotted end into the gap of the incision 6. In another embodiment, Figs. 6-8 (not shown), both ends have U-shaped incisions and one of the resulting lugs is folded back over itself, Fig. 8 (not shown). |
