Engine start control system and control method

The engine start control system has a power supply controller (2) which includes an ignition power supply relay (14) activating an electric component of a vehicle and a central processing unit (11) controlling the ignition power supply relay (14), and a communication device (3) communicating with a portable unit (16) to authenticate validity of the portable unit and performing engine start control. Further, the system has a drive line (A) between the communication device (3) and the ignition power supply relay (14) and not routed through the central processing unit (11). By this structure, the system is provided with advantageous redundancy.
