A method and apparatus for controlling a fan in a refrigerator containing a television/radio module, where the operation of the fan is controlled according to an operation of the television/radio module. The fan is automatically provided with electric power when either the television or radio is operated, the fan permitting dissipation of heat due to television or radio use. The fan is also controlled to be automatically turned off when use of the television or radio is terminated. The fan control system prevents unnecessary operation of the fan and provides a reduction in electrical power consumption. The refrigerator may include a television screen 110, a radio display unit 19, a speaker 140, television function selection buttons 39, and radio function selection buttons 21. A microprocessor can be used to monitor the operating state of the television and/or radio and provide fan control, and the power may be supplied to the fan after an elapsed time of operation of the television and/or radio. |
